Having grown up an orphan in the home of her cruel aunt and at a harsh charity school, Jane Eyre becomes an independent and spirited survivor—qualities that serve her well as governess at Thornfield Hall. But when she finds love with her sardonic employer, Rochester, the discovery of his terrible secret forces her to make a choice. Should she stay with him whatever the consequences or follow her convictions, even if it means leaving her beloved?
A tried and true romance. Although Rochester is a man that I find it understandable for Jane to love, he harbors a deep, dark secret that may just tear them apart. This story is historical, so their problems may not seem like ours today, yet if you read and find out what his secret is, you will definitely find yourself connecting to Jane and hoping she makes the right decision, whatever you think that may be. It’s not really so different than things today. – Jessica, Teen Librarian
